EZ2CY Boat enclosure cleaning products

We recommend using EZ2CY Clear Plastic Restorer & Polish to clean and polish their enclosures. This product is specially formulated to clean and restore the clarity of EZ2CY enclosures, and it is safe to use on impact-modified acrylic surfaces.

Also an ideal boat cleaner for conventional clear vinyl enclosures, isinglass, lucite, Lexan, plexiglass, acrylic, chrome, and painted surfaces.

Plastic enclosure tracks, eyeglasses, instrument covers, hatches, etc. The cleaner may be used whenever you need to spruce up the clarity of your windows.

Use EZ2CY Clear Plastic Restorer & Polish.

Follow these steps:

  1. Rinse the enclosure with water to remove any loose dirt or debris.

  2. Apply a small amount of the polish to a soft, clean cloth.

  3. Rub the polish onto the enclosure in a circular motion, working in small sections simultaneously.

  4. Continue to polish the enclosure until the entire surface has been treated.

  5. Use a clean, dry cloth to buff the surface until it is clear and shiny.

It is important to note that you should not use any harsh chemicals, solvents, or abrasive materials on your EZ2CY enclosure, as these can damage the surface.

What It Is

EZ2CY Plastic Cleaner & Polish is the original formula that's been protecting acrylic and isinglass enclosures for over 30 years. It's a spray-on, wipe-off cleaner that cleans your windows while leaving behind a protective finish that actually makes your next cleaning easier.

Spray it on, wipe it off. That's it. No mixing, no buffing for 10 minutes, no residue left behind. Thirty seconds per panel.

What Makes It Different

Most boat owners reach for Windex, Rain-X, or all-purpose glass cleaners. Those products work temporarily but damage acrylic and isinglass over time, causing permanent cloudiness and brittleness. EZ2CY Plastic Cleaner & Polish is pH-neutral and formulated specifically for marine plastics.

Each application adds a protective layer that does three things:

Anti-Static Finish Repels dust, pollen, and salt spray instead of attracting them. Your windows stay cleaner longer between washes. You'll notice the difference under your hand—treated panels feel slicker.

Anti-Fog Protection Keeps visibility clear even in humid conditions and temperature swings. This matters on flybridge enclosures where condensation can build quickly, and on mornings when cold water spray creates haze on the windows.

Water-Shedding Properties Rain and salt spray bead and run off cleanly instead of coating the plastic. Water that beads off carries contaminants with it. This is what keeps your windows clear without constant reapplication.

The protective layer builds with repeated use, so your panels stay protected longer. Most boaters find they can stretch cleaning intervals from monthly to every 6-8 weeks once the finish establishes.

How to Use

Step 1: Rinse Rinse loose salt and grit off with fresh water. No need to scrub—just remove the loose debris.

Step 2: Shake Shake the bottle well.

Step 3: Spray Spray a light mist directly onto the enclosure panel.

Step 4: Wipe Wipe in straight lines with a clean microfiber cloth (straight lines prevent swirls).

Step 5: Buff Flip the cloth and buff dry for a streak-free finish.

Total time: 30 seconds per panel.

Maintenance Schedule

Reapply every 30 to 60 days for best results, or anytime the panel starts losing its slickness. You'll feel the difference under your palm when it's time to reapply—treated surfaces feel smooth and slightly tacky, while surfaces that need reapplication feel sticky or dry.

In heavy-salt environments (coastal marina storage, frequent salt-water spraying), aim for the 30-day mark. If your boat is trailered or stored in protected conditions, every 60 days is fine. Adjust based on your environment and how often you're on the water.

What It Works On

Originally formulated for EZ2CY rigid acrylic enclosures, this cleaner works on nearly every clear material on your boat:

  • Rigid acrylic enclosures (EZ2CY, Costa Clear, and comparable brands)
  • Soft isinglass and eisenglass windows
  • Conventional clear vinyl enclosures and bimini tops
  • Lexan, Lucite, Plexiglas, and Acrylite
  • Plastic enclosure tracks and zippers
  • Instrument covers and electronics screens
  • Hatches, portlights, and windshields
  • Chrome trim and hardware
  • Eyeglasses and sunglasses

It's not just for boat enclosures. Any clear plastic material that needs protecting works with this formula.

Why Captains Keep Using It

Boat owners running 10 and 11-year-old EZ2CY acrylic enclosures—well past the average lifespan of vinyl alternatives—consistently credit regular use of this spray for keeping their panels crystal clear.

The protective finish is doing the heavy lifting. It's not about cleaning power. It's about building a barrier that repels the salt, UV, and environmental buildup that clouds acrylic over time. Most boaters don't realize this is why their enclosures last longer. They think it's the material. It's actually the maintenance.

What This Isn't

This spray isn't a heavy-duty scrubber for oxidized surfaces or deep scratches. If your enclosure is dull, hazy, or covered in light scratches, the spray alone can't restore clarity. For those deeper issues, you need the scratch remover (a mild abrasive formula that removes the damaged outer layer).

Think of this spray as maintenance and protection. If you need restoration, pair it with the EZ2CY Plastic Scratch Remover for seasonal deep cleaning.

Spray Format Advantage

Unlike squeeze bottles or pump bottles, the spray format lets you apply product quickly and evenly across large panels. No waste, no over-application. The spray creates a light mist that covers 30-40 square feet per application without dripping or pooling.

For a mid-size boat with 8-10 enclosure panels, one 7 oz bottle lasts about 2-3 months of monthly maintenance. Heavy users (weekly cleaning, large flybridge enclosures) might need refills more often.

What Not to Use

Never use Windex, Rain-X, acetone-based cleaners, alcohol, or automotive polishes on acrylic or isinglass. These products may clean temporarily but damage the plastic over time:

  • Alcohol and ammonia strip protective coatings
  • Silicone-based products build up and create haze
  • Automotive waxes are formulated for different plastics and can cause stress cracking
  • Acetone can cause permanent brittleness in acrylic

If you've been using these products and notice cloudiness, the protective finish of the plastic underneath is already compromised. EZ2CY cleaner will help prevent further damage going forward, but restoring clouded panels might require the scratch remover or professional restoration.

Storage & Shelf Life

Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. The formula is stable and maintains effectiveness for 2-3 years if stored properly. Don't store in extreme heat or direct sun, as this can degrade the spray mechanism or alter the formula.

Size & Value

7 fl oz spray bottle with easy-to-use trigger. One bottle handles multiple seasonal cleanings on a typical boat or months of routine maintenance depending on boating frequency.
